James Glickenhaus has come a long way since 2005, when he first told Andrea Pininfarina about his wish to create a modern homage to his Ferrari P3/4. Based on an Enzo, the P 4/5 was ready 18 months later, only to become Pininfarina’s most well-known modern creation.
It wasn’t long before SCG built another Ferrari-based supercar, but this time, it was to go racing at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. By 2011, the P 4/5 Competizione evolved into a hybrid, only to continue racing for years to come. But then came the grand idea to built a new car from the ground up, and the result was even more speed.
Developed under the watchful eyes Chief Engineer Olivier Thomas, who’s resumé includes the McLaren P1, the SCG 004S is a mid-engined supercar built in America. It comes with a gated-six speed manual (or an optional paddle shift), a five-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 650 horsepower and 531 ft.-lb. of torque, a center driving position, three seats and a weight figure of 2600 lbs.
Thanks to Head Designer Michael Young, it’s quite a sight too. And this time around, you only need to fork out a minimum of $400,000 for the entire package, starting with a ten percent deposit.
