Plastic Omnium va dépenser 600 millions d’euros pour racheter le spécialiste des éclairages Varroc Lighting Systems. Une opération stratégique.
Candidat malheureux au rachat de Hella, Plastic Omnium ne veut pas se laisser distancer dans l’éclairage. Vendredi 29 avril, l’équipementier automobile français a annoncé avoir conclu un accord pour acquérir Varroc Lighting Systems (VLS) pour une valeur d’entreprise de 600 millions d’euros. Un mois plus tôt, Plastic Omnium signait également le rachat de l’allemand AMLS, un autre spécialiste des feux de voiture, pour 65 millions d’euros.
« L’éclairage est une activité en pleine croissance dans un marché en transformation », a souligné Laurent Favre, directeur général de Plastic Omnium, lors d’une conférence de presse. Avec AMLS et VLS, le groupe français veut donner naissance à une division entièrement dédiée à l’éclairage. Cette nouvelle branche pourrait représenter 1 milliard d’euros de chiffre d’affaires en 2022. Pour rappel, les revenus totaux du groupe s’élevaient à 8 milliards d’euros en 2021.
